You may want to update description that you only get this price if you trade-in S10 Ultra. For those like us with a S9 Ultra, the upgrade comes out to ~450 depending on tax rates. Still a pretty good deal given the increase in brightness but you lose out some emulation/cloud gaming latency with the new Mediatek chipset so it really depends what you use the tablet for.

I am still a owner of tab S6 the original one. is it worth upgrading to this even tho I will have to end up paying probably 900+

Owning a s10 ultra. This is not worth for such minimum upgrade at this price. Wait it out. I was able go trade my s9 ultra to s10 ultra for $125 just a few weeks after launch.

Samsung requires an actual .edu email address when applying the edu discount now? (I haven't bought anything directly from Samsung in a couple of years.)

Yes, they do require a .edu email. If military veteran, then you can use a normal email and verify through "IDMe".

I received mine today. I traded in an S9 Ultra and paid $340, but that is because I had $120 in Samsung rewards available.

I actually have a real .edu email, but no longer qualify as I am not a student. Forgot what the verification process is, but you need more than a .edu email. Same with Amazon, you need to verify your active student status.

However, I still do get the veterans discount using id.me with Samsung.

I consider that tab to be unusable. Very slow. So if you actually use your tablet, I would say night and day. After using an Ultra, going back to the S6 will be very difficult.

I have used and still use my .edu email for the Educational discount account for the past twelve years. I still have access to my .edu email, as my university allows alumni to keep active accounts.
