Yup. You are correct that it's normal for multicolor printing. Outside of multi-head printers which are generally pretty expensive, there is going to be a lot of purge waste as the printer has to extrude colors before switching to the next color. Multi color prints also take longer.

Reviews from yt indicate a fair amount of waste... maybe thats niormal but figured id rhrow it out ther... good price.

Anyone know what the warranty claim process is like for these? Part of me is worried these are items that didn't meet quality-control for the more mainstream/legitimate retailers, but I could just be paranoid.

I have been printing PETG with this thing. While it works well, if you have a print that is long and spans across the build plate, I noticed that it lifts up the build plate as the PETG shrinks a bit. While not a big deal but it def needs a stronger magnetic bed. Alternatively you can use an enclosure with higher ambient temp to reduce shrinkage but I didn't bother. Also the replacement parts are kinda expensive compared to other companies. However, for the base price I am pretty happy with it and has been a good work horse.
