These days you really have to rely on reviews no matter the brand.

I'm sure this tv has a great picture quality, but $2600 for Hisense is a tough pill to swallow. Longevity is a concern.

Theres am 85" Qled on walmarts site for $748 bit the refresh rate os 120. Also for $698 & $648. I don't know the recommended refresh rates is. But I can't bring myself to spend over 1l on the tv that I'll barely watch.

Why would you go with this over $2000 for an 83" LG OLED B4 from Costco (assuming you're a member)?

This TV is about 4-5x brighter than a B4 OLED, and has around 3000 diming zones so it's not much worse at dark scenes.

I had the same concern about the brand, I've been using the Hisense 85 u8k for about 2 years now and its been a great tv. I did opt to get the geeksquad warranty for it, but haven't had a single issue. These tv's are insanely bright.

My U8 was great for a while, but its now been repaired twice and Hisense is sending a replacement. The price reeled me in, but I'll never buy another Hisense product again.

I certainly wouldn't, unless light control was a real problem in the room I'd be using it in. I have C and G-series OLEDs throughout the house (from 42-inches to 77 inches) and none of them have any issues with ambient light. I don't even have them anywhere near 100 for brightness either.

So basically, it really comes down to price point these days and not much else when it comes to expected TV longevity. If a TV costs $2k it will on average last longer than a TV that cost $400. This is across brands and is due to the caliber of components used in cheaper vs more expensive sets. Unfortunately many folks first impression of Hisense was with a $300 Black Friday special from years ago and it failed and now they are soured on the brand. If you spent the same money on a Samsung you will likely get the same longevity but worse picture quality.

Samsung threads are full of the same complaints and more on their best sets. All major TV brands are pretty equal. You just got a bad egg, it happens. At least they are taking care of you.
