I'm a jacket guy (currently own 34), and I kept my eye out for sales for over a year to get an Atom at a decent price. Finally found it for ~$125 during a random in-store sale at my local REI.

The warmth:weight ratio is noticeably better than anything else I own, but I don't find myself wearing it all that much. I have an old MH predecessor of the Kor Stasis that has fleece lining in the trunk and hood (Atom is all slick), wider cuffs, and an external chest pocket (I don't have to lower the main zipper to access my wallet), so I prefer it. Both have excellent build quality.

I'm definitely spoiled by having access to Columbia employee pricing (50% off) through a friend, but even without that, I think I'd still generally go MH/Columbia Titanium for jackets (currently have 9). There are scenarios where the extra cost of gear like the Atom is justified, but I'm mostly wearing my pieces for everyday life in the PNW, biking, sports, and light hiking/outdoor recreation, so it isn't worth it for me, especially when MH cuts fit me so well.

Guys, I don't wear XL but every person that wears XL isn't automatically fat. Some people are taller or bigger framed or have more body mass such as muscle.
