Good deal. I randomly ended up with one of these and it works really well for what it is. Makes cold brew in about 40 minutes. It is quite loud especially compared to the normal methods of making cold brew but it works well and is quite a lot faster than other methods.

Isn't the point of cold brew for the grounds to be steeped in the water for several hours? How does this work exactly?

Does it actually taste like cold brew as opposed to just iced coffee?

I was curious how this worked, since any cold brewer I've seen is just a pitcher with a filter that you leave on the counter for a day then move to the fridge.

Woot's description was no help, so checked the reviews.

This one apparently spins the cold water around in the top section with the grounds in it, up to 45 minutes for the strongest setting, then drains it from the spinning section into the carafe.
Most of the reviews said it works great and was ready to drink, with one review that said she likes it after running once but she had to run it twice then let it sit overnight to get it strong enough for her husband.

any coffee maker that claims cold brew in a few minutes isnt cold brew. its just iced coffee. if you want to make cold brew, you just need to put coffee grounds into a pitcher of water and let it sit over night. you can pour it through a filter, or put the coffee grounds into a XL tea bag like I do. I do 60g coffee and fill up a quart mason jar to the top with water. easy, simple, and will last a week to 2 weeks in the fridge.
if you prefer to make iced coffee. cut the water down to make an super strong coffee and have it brew over ice. my ratios are 20g coffee, 5.80oz water, 3oz ice. I have a regular coffee maker that stops pouring coffee when carafe is removed. so I take out the carafe and let the coffee maker do its normal thing. but I let the coffee steep for 3 to 5 minutes before putting the carafe back and brew over the ice thats inside the carafe. its simple. if its too strong add extra water. to weak, use less water next time.

hope this helps and gives you options

On the 45 minute setting it actually tastes like decent cold brew. I would not suggest using any of the other settings unless you just want some weak iced coffee.

You put all the grounds in a spinning filter and a motor runs it at high speed in intervals for 45 minutes to quickly cold brew instead of needing to sit overnight.

This is misleading at best... Iced coffee is brewed hot so has a completely different reaction and higher acid content. These machines do make cold brew with all the lower acid and other benefits. The primary difference between quickly making cold brew like this vs steeping it overnight is you lose some of the strength and subtle flavors. Anything less than the 45 minute option on this machine I would not call cold brew personally but the 45 minute option tastes like most standard commercial cold brews and you can run it twice or however many times you want to increase the strength and flavor to make it more like steeped cold brew as even if it takes 2 hours it's still a lot faster than steeping it.

I have had this for years and it's a tank. The motor is still going strong. I eventually wore a hole in my mesh basket that holds the coffee grounds but found a cheap replacement on eBay. I like my cold brew strong, so I let it sit for 6 hrs then a give it a couple of cycles. It's great.
