I think it depends on how much you care about image quality and/or brightness. I'm sure you've seen the reviews, including fomo comparing the qm7k and the qm8k with a reference monitor.
There are most likely very few people who have owned both 98" versions of these models. I personally went with the qm8k for the following reasons: better processing, increased brightness, increased dimming zones (halo/blk lvls), better HDR, atsc 3.0 support.
When seeing the 98" qm7k with demo content in Best Buy, it of course looked excellent (not an accurate image, but still impressive). If the qm7k was back at the $2k price, I probably would have saved my money and gone with that... for some reason, the extra $300 pushed me to the qm8k.
If you're willing to wait a little longer, I'll post back with my review next week.
Edit: if you look at Best Buy reviews of the 98" qm7k, it seems that everyone who's purchased it loves it, and even compare it to OLED lvl blacks. Unless you need the extra brightness or are picky, the qm7k is more than fine for most people

For me, the room this TV would go in is limited on light control, just blinds. Or I would consider a UST, even though it would be more $ after a LR screen purchase.
I don't crank brightness up on TVs, I try to stay at a nominal value to curb that "bright image" equals "quality" reference that marketing has everyone wound up on. Better HDR on the qm8k might make more sense than.
Definitely would like to see your review next week!
