I have this. Works well. Had to spend some time troubleshooting why it wasn't being recognized by linux. There is an update tool on terramasters forums somewhere that solved the issue. Has worked flawlessly since.

Does this work on Mac? What software are you all using on the device?

i just can't justify the cost for these things.
it is approaching a self build NAS territory. But of course, that's only if you know and willing to build one yourself.

Agreed that $152 for a 4-bay enclosure is too high for what it is. I've had good luck with using those dual bay USB 3.1 docking stations that are meant to clone hard drives. They're just $25 a pop. Having three attached to my media server is messy, but they've been reliable and cheap!

I'd like to get a NAS one day, but I'm not making the jump for a few reasons. 1) relatively high idle power usage of most NAS's 2) high upfront costs which also involves upgrading my network past 1 gigabit speeds 3) single point of failure.

It does according to the description on Amazon:

Plug-and-Play Compatibility: The D4-320 USB storage supports 4 individual disks (NO RAID function), and is plug-and-play, eliminating the need for drivers. It is highly compatible with MAC, Windows, and Linux operating systems. The USB Type-C interface supports various computer interfaces, including USB 3.0, USB 3.1, USB 3.2, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4.
