in agreement with the posts on here. I'm on my second bag of this stuff, the peanut butter chocolate flavor is actually great. i dont like stevia or any artificial sugars, and although there's still a stevia taste, it's not bad. I do wish there was a brand that could create a product with regular sugar, just less of it.

Is Ascent 100% Grass fed like Levels or you don't really care for that?

Is Ascent 100% Grass fed like Levels or you don't really care for that?
No, Ascent is not Grass-fed or Whey Isolate, it is a blend of "Native Whey" - meaning instead of getting whey as a byproduct of making other dairy products like cheese, it is made directly from milk that is filtered in to whey. They claim that this process makes it more nutritious somehow.
I personally find it tastes good, mixes well, and doesn't make me as sick as most regular whey protein brands. But nearly any whey isolate product would be better if you want to avoid lactose. Levels whey is grass fed but whey concentrate. They don't filter out lactose and casein which saves them a lot of money.

I make protein ice cream for ninja creami and usually do vanilla base flavor often, I've used orgain, quest brands before. I wonder if this has a strong flavor which is important

FYI Levels doesn't have any 3rd party verification of any sort, is sourced internationally, and their customer service does not provide any extra info so I would NOT believe anything about it being grass fed and just treat it as essentially not grass fed. The amino acid profile also suggests that it's not grass fed in a significant way so I would not believe that it's 100% grass fed at all. Look up amino acid analysis though a lot of this info is in video reviews so you'll have to sift through them.

Ascent's major claim is that it uses native whey, but it also uses regular old isolate and concentrate like every other protein which amounts that aren't listed at all so I'd also consider it to essentially NOT be native whey. It's a blend, there's enough native whey to make marketing claims but it's not 100% native whey and probably not even majority native whey.

That being said I was pleasantly surprised the flavor of Levels compared to Optimum Nutrition. I'm normally not a fan of stevia, it tastes watery and bitter. I prefer sucralose. But Levels double chocolate has a strong chocolate taste and the stevia bitterness actually makes it taste more like dark chocolate vs the ON extreme milk chocolate when mixed with milk. It's less sweet, more chocolate. I think it's nasty with water though whereas ON is at least palatable with water.

Haven't tried Ascent because I'm waiting for $39.99 in-store for chocolate.
