Absolutely love this unit. Except for the fact it cooked to death after two weeks of use. The interface blows TinyPilot away and the customizations are amazing. I just wish it actually lasted longer.

There's also a Pro version coming out end of the year. Currently on Kickstarter.

Is this good for connecting to and checking email/messages when I am downstairs and my work laptop is upstairs? Support MacBooks too?

I've been running it with an ANVISION 5V Gigabit PoE Splitter, USB Type C, 48V to 5V 2.4A Adaper, IEEE 802.3af Compliant without issue. It doesn't seem to need a lot of power.

Here is one thing I noticed today. On the top it has a sticker that says "DO NOT use a PD adapter for power supply" PD = Power Delivery usb C standard where extra power can be negotiated and delivered. I hadn't used it in a week or so and I forgot how to hook it up. So I'm using it on a pi and I accidently hook up the USB-A to the pi. This port is used for devices that GLiNet sells seperately and is not meant for general use. As I was using the pi with an external drive if I unplugged the power or tried to reset it, it wouldn't. It was deliviering power over the USB-A. So I'm guessing if you use a peripheral that somehow draws a bunch of power somewhere down the line on the USB-A and you're using a PD adaptor, it may burn itself up.

not sure what you mean by compatible. I just bought one of these today. and continue to use my mini PC through the KVM switch and connect to this unit from a second HDMI display port. seems to work fine.
