been out of the wifi world for awhile. any good? I got a basic Netgear WAX202 with openwrt. Been fine but basement is choppy

I have this and it is horrible. Computers connected to the satellite only have Internet speed of around 300mbps, and computers connected to the main AP is around 500mbps while my Internet speed should be 1gbps. Connection is pretty solid, but the speed decrease makes it not worth it.

These are only rated to do 600mbps max per router/satellite on the 2.4ghz band...and that's before any subpar placement, distance, and interference.I can't speak to their performance, but calling them horrible because of not maxing your speed would simply be a case of not understanding the product you purchased.

after digging the specs it actually has a higher end 2.4ghz. 2X2 5ghz radio that supports 160mhz. so they could be solid ap points. as mesh units with wireless backhaul no so much. at less than 25 per ap could be decent pick up.
