This is more of an adult scooter which goes faster than you'd likely want your kids to go. It costs a bit more, but we've had the Segway C2 Pro for a while and it's a good option for kids. There are a few models in the Segway C series. For kids, I'd keep an eye out on those and wait for a sale. The top speeds aren't "that" high on them, but at least on the C2 Pro I know you can limit the speeds which I do depending on which of my kids are using it.

This is less than the battery for our Hover 1 scooter. It does 15mph and more than enough speed for an adult.

When this was on sale a couple weeks ago, the discount code also applied to the LP80 which is 10.5 Ah instead of 5.2 Ah on this one. Especially if you are heavier than a kid, having the larger battery is pretty nice. 264lb max weight is listed in the ad, but I'm 230 and this barely creeps up a moderate hill for me. You need to kick with your leg. For my sub 100lb kids, these things are fast as heck. Bumpy too with no suspension and solid tires :-).

5.2 ah battery will last you about 3.5 miles. I have 7 scooters. This is a really, really small battery.

I have a version of this for 2023 and confirm that this is tiny. I take my kid to school on this everyday and can probably tell you that after 2 years, I probably get less than 3.5 miles (although I do plug it in after every 2-3 rides).

I have a 350W and a 500W Aovopro and would not recommend either for kids (unless your kid is like 13+ years old). It's fast, or at least fast enough where a child can really hurt themselves. Plus the brakes are not the best so the combination of faster speed, weak brakes and the everpresent need to be alert on the road does not bode well for giving this to a child.

My kids are 10 and 12 year old girls and they have these scooters. I think these are fine for kids. They have to learn how to be safe of them and not go too fast or you can limit their speed in the app. A bike is safer, yes, but my kids fall off their bikes too. The brakes work really well also, I don't agree they are weak. Especially with their lighter weight. For cruising around a suburban neighborhood, I think these are awesome. If they were riding around on city streets I may think twice. My kids have had scooters (manual) since they were tiny so they know how to deal with bumps and curb transitions and situations that can be more dangerous.

Hard to disagree with you there, but at some point they need to have fun also :-).

I bought this last time for $118. My kids (13 & 15) love it. I no longer have to get my daughter an $900 SE bike and it's pretty safe so far, Brakes are pretty tight and acceleration isn't over the top.

My hearts in my throat when they go out with it, but if you have sensible kids or low traffic areas, it should be fine.
