I just got the KES6551BK which has the grinder and pressure gauge built in. I think you will have a hard time to dial the shot in without the pressure gauge. You need to weigh out 18g for double shots and 11g for single shots. The pressure gauge monitors the ideal range, and you will not know it. If you over extract, you need to make the grind less fine and if its under extracted you would need to make the grind more fine. I have done both but I only knew it looking at the pressure gauge. Unless you have a really good taste for coffee its gonna be hard to know where you are at with the shots.
