I tried to find a proper link, but it seems the updated stuff no longer mentions it.
It was probably removed for liability, especially since it's unnecessary when you can just fold the bag over.
Whole bunch of old threads and forums mention it, some using the method successfully and some getting fires started in their microwaves.

I like that method because it's easy to adjust the amount whether you're making it for a couple of people or several.
