if it's barely used write amplification is minimal and useful life is still 10+ yrs without upgrading

The PS5 does not require that speed. So many people keep confusing the words "recommended" and "required." I thought we were finally past people getting that wrong. Sony RECOMMENDS 5,500, but it makes absolutely no difference, because not one game in existence uses anywhere near the full bandwidth of an M.2 SSD. I have a secondary one in my PS5 that only has a speed of 3,600, and it loads and runs everything just as fast as the stock one. Digital Foundry did a big video on it a couple years ago, too. Even if you had one with a speed of 7,000, you would get about 1 second faster load times than me. Games need to be programmed to use the extra speed. It's like how the PS5 is easily powerful enough to run every PS4 game at 60fps, but the vast majority of them are still stuck at 30fps, because they haven't been patched to use any of that power.

that's the only concern

Depends on what you use it for. At this level in the technology, the transfer speeds are so fast it really doesn't make a huge difference for normal files. I'd consider other options if it's a boot drive; otherwise I think this is a pretty nice stick.

Non-issue for most people running a modern Windows or Linux system using native M.2 slots. Also the OP states HMB.
