It doesn't require anything, $40 will give you the device, that's it! Connect to WIFI and enjoy a device better than this nasty amazon tablet, it's a prepaid device, you're not attach to a contract. You don't need a phone service since your purpose is use it as a tablet, why would you even pay? Unless you want it unlocked, there is 0 reason to pay, and you are not obligated to pay.
never thought of it that way... but then what happens if you do want to use it as a phone few months after? Can you still sign up to unlock?

So I finally get around to opening mine up and checking it out. It's "used: acceptable" (literally sticker on the box stating it), not remotely refurbished, hell it doesn't look like they even cleaned it. There's damage to the screen that look's like two pressure points from something. There's also a grain of sand, or something, under the edge of the screen, that looks like it's separating the glass from the rest. For $35, I suppose it's okay, but absolutely NOT remotely refurbished in any way shape or form.

I get that, but those 60 days can start pretty much whenever, right?

Got mine in the Spring as a TV accessory to look up sport stats, movie/TV casts, etc.

Using it also for solitaire and yahtzee.

Not shopping with it.

Overall, for $40, it's served its purpose and reduced eye strain looking at my phone. No, it's not swift.

These would work fine behind headrests in the back seat for video on roadtrips.

I consider this a deal...
It can handle all your streaming needs, I remember in the day when I could only afford the cheapest.

Wow that's so unprofessional. I thought every company provides only products in excellent (or next to excellent) condition when they sell refurbished stuff. That's been my only experience. Amazon keeps getting worse day after day after day . . .

so you buy it and then call them up... It is USED not manufacturer refurbished AND DEMAND $20 BACK.
I will add... back in the day... 2020... the last gen refurbished Fire HD10 tablets amazon was selling for $10 each when on sale. How do we have 400% inflation in just five years?
