Looks like it has all the features of the newer model that costs twice the price. I liked that costco gives me the 2nd year warranty. Zojirushi website lists this for $186. Been in and out of stock. I reposted now that its back in stock. Hopefully lasts a little longer than last time

I have this one and I have two white Micom Zojirushi's that are made in Japan. This one was great but needs to be retired. Cooks rice still but can't keep warm without turning into mush. On the plus side, it lasted at least 5 years. The two other ones that are made in Japan are still going strong with everyday use, even though they are way older. Definitely, made in Japan is the way to go.

I got a great deal for it. So bought as backup. On a daily basis, I cook two different types of rice. Having two rice cookers is easier since the brown rice I cook takes forever.

Someone tell me why this is better than the cheaper tiger cooker from Costco made in Japan?

Definitely agree with this. The Made in Japan ones are top notch and better than the Chinese made ones. It is also why it is usually priced more.

It actually does play music! You have to like "Twinkle Twinkle" on repeat though.

My only complaint about these is that the standby button battery is soldered in or requires significant disassembly to replace - don't remember which since I haven't bothered to changer mine. It'll still work fine but if unplugged have to reset for certain timer functions. Some keep plugged in year round so a non-issue.
