Yep, my "normal" window is 36in wide so this won't work. I wouldn't suggest gluing two pieces either.

I used the blue/silver from the oddly named company rabbit goo , and this is a pretty standard price for this size from mfgs. You can put more than one layer together if you need to go wider and want a thin line of extra dark window (at least if you just use water/static cling.) Do note that this is one way towards wherever the light is coming from, at night with the lights on you won't be able to see out but will be visible from outside. Works well on the south side bathrooms facing the yard, but if you need to see out you'll want to make a window slit. It's cheap and not magic but it makes a great but of difference, especially for those who work nights (you'd want to still use curtains, possibly even with the "100%" blocking sheets.)

read a few posts on reddit that these can make the deal crack in between your windows from the uv reflection during really hot days. anyone have any problems like that using these?

To address the risk of seals drying out on hot days due excess reflection, what happens if I apply this film outside? Would the reflective surface then be the wrong way around? Facing in instead of outside?

You don't want to put this on the outside as it will get much more beat up by the elements. But if you insist on doing it on the outside you will end up with slightly less shade assuming you use the sticky side to stick to the window instead of just static. Really either way you install this it will block some amount of light but if you put it on backwards as you are suggesting doing it will block more light coming from inside the house during night and less light coming from outside the house during day. Not a huge amount less but definitely less (looking through it /shining a light on it is how you can figure out which side goes where if you don't want to peel and stick)

looked into tinting my home windows. you don't want to tint double pane else you run the risk of ruining the seal or cracking your windows. that said I applied Gila window tint to the inside of one double pane window in the house and to the single pane garage door glass. my double pane glass is old and doesn't have gas so I'm not worried. really easy process but the tint isn't very good quality but it gets the job done.

if I were to do the whole house I'd get ceramic tint made for the home 60" x 50ft roll. look at 313tint

I looked at several listings and the cheapest price is always for black, which is too dark for most people. The silver ones are almost always more expensive. For example, one offering showed $4.99. But when you choose Silver, the price shoots up to $6.99. The

Will it reflect or refract direct light from vehicles? We live on a cul de sac with vehicles stopped and chatting on cell phones all hours of the night and hoping to significantly decrease the amount of light coming in.
