Just keep in mind this model has flimsy plastic hinges and they do break off eventually.

This may have been the next generation where the thickness was decreased, and the top was lowered making the hinge system stronger. I have one of the 'higher hinged' versions (but Intel) and the right hinge broke.

does it still work ok? my son's Asus hinges broke off and then finally the screen died but I didn't know if it was related. I'm looking for a reliable replacement but don't care about anything that's decorative because he keeps it on his desk. thanks!!

I rate Acer touchpads as one of the worst in the industry; so I don't recommend the brand. My hinge is still a problem; but I don't move it or close it, so it's very limited as a laptop that's meant to be mobile.

I tried (and failed Smilie ) to google search to see if the ram and/or hard drive could be upgraded.. if it's similar to the A315-24P models (ebay listing says this is a A315-24PT-R288 model so .. not sure what the difference is between A315-24P and A315-24PT ) looks like the ram is soldered on and cannot be upgraded and there's only one m2 drive slot..not a complaint mind you especially at this price!

I would argue for most casual laptop users the 16 GB of ram and 1 TB hard drive should be just fine.

This price is relatively high for this listing. Not that long ago, it was around $235. Still, even at $300, the specs are great for the price. If you aren't in a rush, I'd wait until the price drops again at some point.

It isn't relatively high if you can find a equally spec'd system for the price. Just because it is not at an all time low doesn't mean it is high

3 year old, basic, 4c/8t cpu... That is actually just a 5 year old, basic, Ryzen 3 4300U with some tweaks and a new igpu that is only 2 compute units, when the older version had 5 CUs... https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD...934.0.html

bought 2 for kids school computers in previous deal pretty impressed for the price (Previous better deal $235). Nothing else I could find with these specs at anywhere close to same price .. this maybe more but still worth it.
