I was a beta tester for the IO series toothbrushes. I went from a basic electric brush and anticipated it to be the same experience. I was blown away. It was the only brushing experience that gave me the "just left the dentist" clean feeling.

People complain of mold in the head, I have not had that experience in the last 3 years. Wife has not either, however, after about 400 charge cycles, her toothbrush has developed a software issue. (Says its battery is dead, place it on charger, says actual battery and works fine)

I would but the IO if you're okay with the replacement brush head price.

FWIW, I tried the IO and absolutely hated it. The stem of the brush head is so wide and cone shaped that it was impossible for me to keep toothpaste from seeping out of my mouth while brushing. God forbid you peak the brush head out of your mouth for a nano second while it was on, or your mirror and everything else within about 8 feet is covered in toothpaste over spray. I had no issues with the brushing results/quality of cleaning, but couldn't get comfortable using it and found it too messy. I threw mine away after a few months in a fit of anger after spraying my fresh shirt with toothpaste for probably the 5th time.

There are enough generic head manufacturers out there that I think they will be supported for quite some time.

Bought it, thanks for the link! My dentist recommended using any electric toothbrush over manual brushing. I almost pulled the trigger on the Oral-B 1000, but it has a NiMH battery vs the lithium ion in this one for the same price. Don't care for the smart features I don't think.

You know your thumb naturally rests on the power/pause button? All electric brushes have holes in the head by design that causes some form of leak around your mouth. Wait, don't manual brushes get toothpaste on your lips/face?

I've had this version of oral B, the new iO and sonicare. I was very underwhelmed by iO, despite the technology advances. the brush head is too big in my opinion, makes it difficult to get into smaller spaces especially around molars. it doesn't feel as clean as the sonicare did. with sonicare I could feel food particles vibrate out from in between teeth and below the gum line (popcorn bits for example). the oral B in this deal is ok. doesn't give you the tingly clean feeling sonicare gives you, but it's better than iO. my overall vote, go Sonicare
