agreed. I bought mine second hand and the only thing I needed to replace was the plastic hopper. The company makes it super easy to get replacement parts so this will run for years a long as you don't burn the motor out. The grind is super consistent with minimal fine particles. it does ok for a espresso grind but I would buy a dedicated grinder more suited for that.

Not really about being cheaper. Whole beans, allegedly, hold their flavor better therefore freshly ground coffee "tastes" better. That said, the reason for a conical burr grinder is consistency in the grounds size to have consistent flavor from the drop process. Especially in pour overs and French presses.

I've honestly never noticed much of a difference, that said I'm probably still gonna get in on this.

This in an incredible price for a solid conical burr grinder. I think I've had mine for about ten years. It performs really well every day. I don't take care of it the way I should and I've only had to replace one part on it before.

Even though I use it every day for espresso, I would not buy primarily for espresso. Because it lacks finer adjustments at that size, it requires changing the weight quite a bit to get a good extraction.

All that to say, very good price for a very good grinder.

Why would whole beans be cheaper? Whole beans are higher quality.(by that i mean fresher) Cheap coffee is often pre-ground, just walk through the coffee aisle in a grocery store and have a look.

the science behind this would be that ground coffee has a larger amount of surface area to oxidize and breakdown compared to just a whole bean.
