They're liquidating the batteries in this deal by offering a variety of addons, like these inverters.

Why "liquidating"? Are the batteries discontinued, is there a new model?

No, these are almost brand new V2 of this battery. Bundles are simply another way to market stuff you make/assemble.

Similarly, this inverter is quite new, only a few reports of users just now getting them broken in ...the jury is still out, but promising so far.

While they have 'upgraded' versions; many complain about the form factor being obsolete, compared to other versions that are lighter, easier to move/lift, and more compact power similar to 'mini' form factors.

These are being systematically removed from their product lines.

On the contrary there is a demand for larger banks for peak shaving or off grid applications and companies are expanding their higher AH lines. But yes they are very heavy. Docan now offering 33kwh units. Cheap if you can pick up at Houston warehouse.

Interesting, my understanding (as alpha also said above) was that this was a relatively new form factor and model. Do you have any links to discussions on why these are being discontinued? The 48v-280Ah systems have a lot of advantages in my mind compared to server-rack types, including lower cost per kWh. But I wouldn't want to buy into a discontinued system in case I want to seamlessly add more storage capacity later

Dang, took a peek and also see 46kWh on pre-order. Going to have lots of tough decisions to make soon lol

I have been wanting combo but battery (300lb per) too heavy to be moved to basement, not without some serious dolly and help.

As a rule of thumb; follow the money first. Again; they're larger, less mobile, and more expensive per square foot than their (and most competition) newer, smaller form factors. These are heavy, non-rackable/shelvable, and a drag on their newer offerings.

It comes down to basic marketing/economy of scale/Capitalism.

Those are valid points and surely apply to a lot of people (in my case the weight and stacking aren't an issue) but I'm just curious how you know these are being discontinued. I would think there's a market for both types of form factors (e.g. we have both laptops and desktop computers available because they fill different roles despite doing the same thing).

They can be wired in parallel to double the output. So they would be a combined 24kw output, which would run a power hungry house.

This. Also, if you have solar for example and your microinverters need to see a stable connection to the grid to generate power (i.e. enphase iq7) then your inverters need to be big enough to prevent clipping.
