Just a heads up: there's multiple reports of Oris denying calibre 400 repairs on watches not purchased through an AD.

What's the difference with this one besides $25?

Yep, 100% true. Not to mention all of the issues in the past with the 400 movement.

And Watchmaxx usually buys old stock.

Also WM's warranty is only two years.

Not sure gen 2 is any better, internet reports still make me avoid it.

Good comments above and I've been doing a little research on my own and must say this is a very good price on this model Oris, and an outstanding price for those that value in-house designed movements (true in-house movements and not just minor changes to an existing off-the-shelf movement). That said, this is a beautifully made watch by Oris and if you're really considering buying it, take a look at some of the close up YouTube videos like the link I've included, below.

A few more comments - there is a real issue with the minute hand jumping when you set the crown... but that issue was mentioned 4 yrs ago, so its very possible this 400 mvmt could be an updated or Gen 2 mvmt as mentioned, above. Even if its not an updated mvmt, the issue appears to be mostly an annoyance... but it's likely to be less so given the watch's massive 123 hour PR and overall accuracy. The final note I'll mention was a comment i read about the cost of having a proprietary in-house mvmt serviced vs a more "generic" nom-proprietary commercial mvmt. The servicing costs on this mvmt could be substantially more expensive.

In summary - a really good deal on a more unique mid-tier luxury watch that's an overall beautiful piece (esp if you love the green color).

EDIT -- I was reading through the WatchMaxx policies and noticed they will size your watch for you for free... and even after it's sized, you can still return the watch for a full refund. That's a really awesome return policy and I did not notice that anyone had mentioned it.

What does that mean, for the uninitiated?

According to some buyers they are not that reliable sellers.

In general, grey market dealers are good place to look for new stock to avoid AD pricing, but you definitely roll the dice with after purchase customer service and support. That reddit post is also 3 years old (just coming off of COVID, luxury watch market on the uptrend), so I'd take it with a grain of salt. A good middle ground is somewhere like Chrono24, where you can filter out searches to professional dealers that may carry the manufacturer warranty. For lower tier watches (my realm), grey market is a great place to occasionally find a deal.

If I were to purchase this watch I would reach out to a AD with all my questions and doubts.

You are right, but it's $3k at Walmart (and has a hideous rubber strap).
