Pro tip: get a used - good or very good unit for less than half the price. It will work just as well. I have twice bought the used units for around $50, and both have been working perfectly.
These are good beginner machines, that can make decent espresso if you learn how to use them. Lots of after market parts are available for them, including unpressurized baskets and steel steamer nozzles. There are also mod guides to add temperature control to them. Maintaining them involves running descaler solution through them every 6 months or so.
I experimented a lot with grind levels and baskets and such on these, until I gave up and now just get ESE pods for them on Amazon. It ends up being 20c a cup, and the pods are sealed fresh and ready to use no mess, no fuss, no cleanup. Lavazza is decent as are several other Italian brands, and even Bonnet, the US brand. Illy is considered fancy all arabica, and priced accordingly.

This model is on clearance in store only at Target. Ymmv. My store is 50% off but some stores may have hit 70% off as this has been on clearance a few weeks now.

Where would be a good place to search for used units? (aside from fbm because I don't fb)

I have had 3 of these machines. Recommended.
I remember paying something like $75-90, max $100 for the last one. An MSRP of $200 and a 'deal' price of $120 is only indicative of the 'great' times we are living.

Sam's club had the black version awhile back got $70. I don't think it's available any longer but they do have a Capresso for $80 now. The De'longhi is a nice machine though and works well. Not sure about the Capresso.

Both times I got them from Amazon warehouse. They were further reduced by the 25% off warehouse sale. On FB, you may be able to find them even in $30 range.
These used be $120 new a couple of years ago. The current MSRP seems to be too inflated.

There are a couple of guides on Reddit. Mind you, it will probably be more expensive to mod this than to buy a Breville or something similar with built in Temp control.

I got a De'Longhi Stilosa for $75 in April (new). Love that thing. 0 issues, between me and the others in the house that use it, it pulls about 5-10 shots a week.

I used to have a DeLonghi EC155 (two, actually—I found one at a scrapyard for $5 & kept it for easy spare parts + extra handle/portafilters). There was a very active and capable modding community around it since it was easy to repair and could be modded to do some pretty impressive stuff. I still maintain at ~$150 MSRP it was the best consumer espresso machine in it the sub-$500 price range and it punched well above it's weight for the 5 years I actively used it. There are naysayers but they're mostly assholes complaining that it's not a riveted chrome chassis with the aesthetic of an Airstream camper from the 60s filled with proprietary/unrepairable parts constructed by some drunk Italian. It's been awhile so I'm not familiar with the current offerings, but if this is anywhere near as good as the EC155 (both are 15-bar machines, cursory search suggests they're quite similar) this is a decent price for someone getting into making espresso at home.

Neither machine is likely to be a good solution for someone who isn't interested in learning how to use an espresso machine, as there can be a bit of a learning curve (a rewarding one, in my opinion) involved if you're interested in producing the best results.

I got 3 of these from Sam's at at $70 a piece. On my second one as the first one went to me daughter at the Uni. They rock, smile and good.
