I've had these for about 3 years now and they work great, and more importantly still work great. I think the high end models are prone to breaking but these are just standard tried and true tech. I did replace the spring in the washer once, but I did it myself and it cost $20 for the part.

I don't know why people like front load, especially for washers. They develop mold faster and loading stuff without a chair is a pain.

They generally do a better job cleaning. I've had one for 2 years with no mold, and no odor. Just leave the door cracked open when you're done, an inch or two is all you need. I have an LG, and it has a magnetic nub on the bottom of the door to hold it in place.

AFAIK front loaders use significantly less water as well. i replaced my 90s era top loader this spring with an LG front load washer. My water usage has gone down by 200 to 300 gallons per month. No smell\mold issues either.

That's because you're not wiping down the rubber creases after washing. Unloading stuff without a chair is a pain too, it works both ways

does nobody see it as a problem that you have to crack open front door washers? I mean if the washer was designed properly it could have venting that opened up automatically when it's off, and you wouldn't need to open the front door

I'd avoid an electric dryer. Idk the efficiency on this but they can be real energy suckers
