Never paid for a jack, anyone know if these professional ones are worth it and why would i need double jacks
To categorize construction jacks, there are the Viking's which are the originals, many argue are the best, and are the most expensive. Then there are these DeWalts and the Irwins which are almost identical (both Stanley Black & Decker). Then there are many variants available on Amazon with comparable (although sometimes dubious) specs but a much lower price. I think what you are referring to as the professional ones would include the Viking, DeWalt and Irwin models.
I own two of these DeWalts. I opted for them rather than ones on Amazon with similar specs mainly because I trust that they are more likely to be faithful to those specs. If I had confidence in the Amazon ones, then I would definitely save the money, but I figure that if one fails and what you are lifting lands on a body part, then the pain, inconvenience and, potentially, medical bill completely offset the savings. Maybe I am being paranoid, but the culture of gross overinflation of specs on Amazon products gives me enough pause to splash out for the DeWalts.
In terms of the DeWalt vs Irwin, the main factor people bring up in reviews is that the lever to raise the jack is the top handle on the DeWalt, but the bottom for Irwin. The advantage this affords you on the DeWalt is that you can raise it by stepping on it with your foot.
Why two? Many situations are made easier with two. If you are hanging a door, you can have one on each side and level it out. Same thing with cabinets (either left and right or back and front). In general, I would say I use two of them together more than one alone.

This is a good price for two, BTW.
