Guess it would be as gross as a plunger sloshing around lol how do you clean these things because a plunger is difficult to clean in those inside nooks and crannies

Sometimes the following works by pouring a large amount of hot water and wait up to 30 minutes or so and see if things start to move and unclog a bit. Might have to repeat a couple more times. Seems to work at least 50% of the time. Cleaner this way, just don't splash. If it doesn't work, then I would follow up with good plunger, not one of those from Dollar store which is not meant for a toilet

Add copious amounts of dawn dish soap, which will lubricate things.
