There were two open betas, there are people who 100% know they are going to purchase it and in this case I'm okay with them making that decision.
I totally agree with you in most cases though, could you imagine buying borderlands 4 and then having it run at 30fps with recommended hardware 😂

I'm in the camp of preorder only WITH a discount. In this case, it's a $10(14%) discount and many people received $5 or $10 certificates on top of this. BF2042 didn't impress me but the open beta made it feel like BF4 again. So thanks OP.

just got a random $10 gift cert so ill probably use it to buy this game, im liking what i see of this game so far. Also im the opposite of "never preorder", im going to play the game and put as many hours into it as soon as i can before they change/introduce stupid mechanics/modes or put in stupid skins or something lol

Preorder for store pickup and wait a couple days. If reviews/user feedback is good then go pick up and get that $10 preorder bonus. If poor, cancel and lose nothing. I have some certificates though I need to use so probably going to do that.

It's strange - but I'll happily pay full price after reviews are out, and even then - only on Steam.

I played the hell out of the beta and loved it - but out of principle I won't preorder a digital copy, and frankly it'd need to be $30-40 to force me into the EA App

I'll wait until the honeymoon phase is over and there is a decent sale post launch.

The launch of this game will have ~3 large Battlefield maps, and that's all I'd be interested in. $70 and a $10 GC worth it for that? Not for me.

The game engine, graphics, and mechanics all looked and felt great in the beta though. Just needs more real Battlefield content.
