Does anyone have any experience with the mini? Not looking for anything serious, just looking for something to casually play when bored/traveling. Thanks.

I'm very petite and have small hands and I felt like the mini was very cramped. I prefer the regular size Squier much more enjoyable to play. My eight-year-old can play it also. Gives a little more room on the fretboard.

Mini ruins it. Not a good scale length.

Truth be that.
Search eBay "student electric guitar". Not a Mini. Under $60, or $80 with an HSS. Learn to tweak it yourself; because you'll need to eventually anyway.
