This is normal of most coffee makers. They test the grounds, so sometimes you'll see water or coffee grounds in the machines. Normal.

Just a side note, but you have to put a pound or two of coffee through this before the coffee and puck consistency fully set in. Totally normal so don't be discouraged if the first few cups aren't perfect.

This is a screaming deal but I never got any drinkable espresso from my Phillips when I had it. Bought the delonghi magnifica from Costco and it was night and day. If you check the superautomatic subreddit, you'll see tons of posts complaining about weak coffee and machine issues.
Costco's Ruta Maya medium roast is a great bean for superautos. Very freshly roasted and not oily, which is no no for these grinders.
hope y'all get your machines and are happy with them though!

Nice deal for those who got it.
We been using it for 3 years now, great machine.
Must pull internal mechanism and work it out by hand manually, to loosen before coffee becomes great. Some people recommend going through 50 cups of coffee to break in but it can be done manually by hand and you will have decent (not great) coffee from day one. This is what I did.
Just pull it out like for maintenance, move yellow level back and forth between end position unti it looses a bit, few dozen times. Easy, beats wasting coffee.

PS Ordered another one, will be great birthday gift for a friend who loves coffee.

These don't tend to be that durable but I guess we'll see. About $190 after shipping and taxes. Not sure how slick it is (I got one why not) at the listed $160 price is great but I don't see it slick at 190+

Buy now think later before it gets changed. Costco almost always honor price mistakes. Look at the Sonos Arc and beam soundbars I got from them. I got them both for less than $300 total and $100 Apple gift cards with brackets for both on top that I didn't count thru instacart delivered as well.

All Philips super-auto share the same internals, all way up to $1200 machine, they last the same as well. You get less features with these.
Deal is super hot considering full manual delonghi espresso machine goes on the first page for $120. I thought this was good at $330 two years back

I had a similar machine which was also from Costco. It did not last more than 3 years before it started leaking from the bottom.

I hope this deal goes through. Years ago, I had the 5400. It's top of the line for the Philips brand. I sold it because I quit coffee for 4 months, then I relapsed after I sold it. Smilie

Money has been an issue as I'm over my head in a business startup right now. So when I started drinking coffee again, I was just using a manual process like a pour over. And then I managed to score the Tchibo $45 price mistake on Amazon with the standalone milk frother. And that is an okay machine, especially for the price we paid. The thing I miss most is being able to tell the machine I want 2 shots of espresso and then walk away. It looks like the Philips 800 has that option, so it would feel like a big upgrade to us.

In all likelihood, a $.25 o-ring would have solved the leaking you experienced. I bought this same machine on Prime Day years ago, and after an initial period it's reliably made good espresso for years.

I second the post about Delonghi Magnifica. ia few years back I got into a hobby of repairing super automatics and got to use all kinds of them: Saeco, Jura,, Philips. The best and most durable machine is by far Delonghi Magnifica ESAM 3300. All it needs is regular application of the food grade silicone grease on the seals of the brew group. I am no longer running the coffee machine repair shop, but I still have one of these machines and use it every day. Very consistent extraction and solid "puck" of grounds. I roast my beans at home too, but that's another topic.

You might be right. It was coffee leaking from the bottom. I took apart the entire machine but could not figure out the cause of leaking.

I have had this machine since November (from Costco) and absolutely love it. Use it daily. The first 10 or so shots are not good at all... I think that contributes to the bad reviews.
