It has been this price for weeks. My Deco 6 suddenly broke, so i bought this one.

There is a 15% rebate if you buy with Amazon Prime Visa.

I decommissioned all my TP Link gear. Even the 24 port managed switch. I wasn't real thrilled with their performance anyway and then the news came out about the Chinese back doors in their equipment. I ripped it all out, put a Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE in with a in my house and a Dream Router 7 in my ex wife's house. I'm really pleased with the performance, the flexibility and very granular configuration (Great multiple VLAN support and I can VPN my entire house to Switzerland through a single connection), the UI, and the fact that I can manage my ex's network remotely (saves me having to go visit!). I bought through B&H. If you use their store card they will pay the sales tax (10.25% where I am).

My Dream Machine SE: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...ecial.html
And my Pro Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Access Point: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...7_pro.html

Her Dream Router 7: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...ter_7.html

I wouldn't touch TP-Link again.

How much more does the ubi cost? I am sure everybody would prefer an Ubi network but this is comparing apples to oranges.

look that's insanely expensive. who's going to spend $420 when so few devices are operating on Wi-Fi. 7. Wi-Fi 6 is barely catching on and to spend $420 on Wi-Fi 7 is just a total waste of money I mean come on guys really... How many devices have Wi-Fi 7... Wi-Fi 6 is good enough and with all the controversy over tp-link I'm not buying any of their products over Wi-Fi. 6. I already am at the 1 GB per second threshold with a Wi-Fi 6 mesh router system and I pay $200 for that. so why is Wi-Fi 7 worth $220 more when no devices hardly have use for Wi-Fi 7

$336 from TP-Link directly with the coupon code 20PERKSPOT. Also get a free indoor pan/tilt camera. Various sites have cashback.

The Dream Router 7, which is the little sister to my Dream Machine SE (the one I put in my ex's house), still has tons of very impressive features, including built in VPN client & server, multiple VLAN support, support for camera recordings onto an SSD, and lots more. I just got that from B&H for $299 but I went on their chat thing and asked if there were any promotions coming up and they tossed a $30 coupon at me. (They have done that more than once for me on other products). Their chat is not open right now because it's a Jewish holiday/Sabbath.

The other items that I got for my house are pricier. The Dream Machine SE is currently $499 and the U7 Pro Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Access Point is $189 (You will need both if you are going wireless). But, like I said, if you use their store credit card they'll eat the sales tax. No longer to I have to ship to Oregon and then wait for my friend to come visit me with it!

Agreed, Unifi is so different from something like a deco.

Alternatively, you can do what I did and get the best of both worlds..you can just get a Unifi Gateway Max (no storage option, $200) and use it as the main router while my existing decos act as a mesh still in AP mode.

These deco systems still require an internet connection to manage your private lan via their servers?

So I feel like this is a misnomer. My phone uses wifi 7 but i rarely need a good connection to my phone. What wifi 7 is killer at to me is the ability to wireless backhaul. A perfect example is these 3 units can communicate via the 6ghz band and get CRAZY speeds in my opinion. An example: I have 2 of these, spaced about 30-35 feet apart but between a few walls and around a corner. On wireless backhaul with a desktop wired to the 2nd router, I got 1160 mbps down. If i have my deskptop connected via wifi 6e via the router 30-35 feet away, I only got 330 mbps. HUGE difference. In short, If you space enough of these in your house, you can saturate a 1 gig internet plan. Simply not possible on wifi 6.

If you are going all in on wifi7 you either get the ubiquiti 48-port poe++ enterprise switch and combine with 2-3 e7 triband wifi7 campus APs or you can get the 2/3node Asus BQ16Pro quad-band wifi7 mesh with two 6ghz channels and afc.

I regret going with TP Link system, even with their outdoor Access Point and another inside by the front of the house, and 2 extenders, it can barely cover 2000sqft area and we are getting horrible speeds on PS5. After spending money (although it's an older and a bit slower version, but was supposed to have greater coverage) X55 access points are just not strong enough to extend the network unless you add wired backhaul. If i am adding wires, I might as well wire CAT6 to my computers.

Deco control panel on the phones are very buggy, sometimes it takes the whole network down if you make a simple change. I am at a point where I am considering just getting individual routers as access points and giving them all different SSIDs so I can control which ones we are connected to and not rely on mesh to decide which one connects to. It's a headache but I think it might be the only way to make sure certain devices connect only to certain access points, because Deco can't manage that properly either even though there are settings to do that.

That sounds frustrating! Thanks for sharing your experience. Did it work well at first and degrade over time, or was performance always poor? Could you clarify which Deco system/components you are using?

Hi, my network consists of 3 x X55 mesh access points + 1 x X50 outdoor POE access point + 1 x X50-POE Ceiling Access Point + Netgear Gigabit POE Switch only for POE units + All brand new CAT6 wiring.

https://www.amazon.com/WiFi-6-Mes...B09PRB1MZM

https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-De...B0BSFFJN93

https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-De...B0BKPRCS6W

If you see the link, X55 Mesh with 3 units alone claims "Covers up to 6500 Sq.Ft" nowhere near this, yeah maybe it covers at super slow speeds, where NBA 2K26 update of few GB shows 6 hours on PS5, where my outdoor cameras like Wyze takes a long time to load, it's just not reliable. I really need to be sitting close (like above or next to) router to barely get 300mbps from my gigabit wifi and 2.4gigabit laptops with Wifi 6.

Sure X55 Mesh system is kinda outdated now but I got it 3 years ago or so, at first I thought it was the placement of the mesh units, so I moved them closer, didn't help so I bought outdoor unit and POE, wasn't enough coverage, I had to buy the ceiling unit for my garage, it's still not enough. The key is to sit near the mesh access points, moment you walk away or have walls in between, it's pretty bad. I am too far invested into this now to scrap and get new ones. Maybe if Deco makes someting more reliable and can allow me to use what I have in place already as mesh access point nodes, maybe I can consider getting another router that's compatible at some point.
