Community Reviews

This Sam's Club membership deal is mainly useful for getting a discounted first year, with several paths that can work through ID.me categories like student, alumni, or healthcare. The offer has also been used to renew an expired membership, and some accounts show the discounted price only after switching to a new account or email. The main catch is that auto renewal appears to kick in at the regular rate unless canceled, and verification can fail or require extra ID.me steps. It is a handy signup discount, but not always a smooth one.

Common Questions (5)

  • The offer is tied to ID.me for many of the listed categories, and the verification flow can be finicky. Some users completed it successfully, while others reported no discount, missing verification emails, or needing a Social Security number.

  • It can work for some expired memberships, but the system may block a discounted join or renewal if your account or email was used before. Some people had to use a different email or even a new account to get the offer to apply.

  • Yes. A $15 Sam's Club offer was linked through Synchrony Marketplace, and another comment pointed to a $25 standard website offer, making the $20 promo only slightly better than some other available options.

  • Yes. The offer appears to apply to the first year only, then it auto-renews at the regular membership price unless you cancel. The terms also authorize recurring annual charges to the payment method on file.

  • No. The promo is described as a first-year offer, but one workaround is to keep two accounts and reactivate the other at the discounted returning-member rate when the current one expires.

How is this a deal? It used to be $15 or free
And McDonald's hamburgers used to be a nickel. So what? Let me know when you perfect the time machine so we can get everything for whatever prices used to be. 😄

I just have two accounts. When one expires, I reactivate the other at the discounted rate for returning. Repeat annually. Works out even better because I usually do one last big shop right before it expires, then wait until I need to go back before reactivating the other. Then I'm not paying for any "idle" time between the last visit on the old one and the first visit on the new one.

Last year when I tried this, it owuld not let me join at disounted rate on any email I previosly used. They ahd to go in their system and remove one of the old emails and I had to use my wife's name.

If my wife is the main member but she has my name on her account and I have a card, will tht stop me from making a new account? Her account expires in about 1 week.

The IRS, which obviously already has your SSN, requires them for e-filing.
ID.me already knows all about you.

Now, I am officially "senior" by Sam's Club standards. I don't know if I should be happy or sad about this. 😂

Looks like Sam's avacados are about $3 cheaper than Costco.
