$200 for bonded leather? That stuff will start peeling within a year or so.

1) within a year is an exaggeration, I've owned many throwaway chairs and worked at an office store for years. These chairs, while not meant to last for decades, are not THAT fragile
2) for $200 this is a pretty nice chair. Not everyone wants to or can afford to drop a grand, or spend weeks hunting in Facebook, for better chairs.
I personally have invested in nicer chairs and wouldn't buy these nowadays, but this kind of misinformation snobbery is not helpful.

Bonded leather is a big scam. you'd be lucky to not have it peeled after a year or two.

This is spot on! Admittedly this chair seems a lot nicer than most SD chair deals, but was in a similar position and used to buy bonded leather cheapo chairs for home office use (3 work stations). Used them for 8-10 a day and it didn't matter what the brand was or which of us were using it, within a year or two the bonded leather would tear and start shedding flakes everywhere and just look gross.

So as long as you're buying it knowing the bonded leather veneer will ultimately crack and flake, it's fine.

After a few rounds of this, I went the other direction. While going with full grain was an option, it was way too expensive so I switched to synthetic instead of bonded leather and have been using the same chairs for over 7 years and they still look really good and are comfortable.

As an example, I'm currently sitting on a Staples Bressertrade Luxura Managers Chair Tan from an old slick deal since that Luxura fabric has been great for us. I also like how the bottom of this particular chair has floating straps that support you instead of a board since I find the foam padding on the bottom of a lot of the cheaper chairs gets compressed and less comfortable over time . (For ref, I'm 5' 11 175 lbs) Not saying this will be everyone's experience, but it's certainly mine over the last 20 years and hopefully helps people.
What do you mean by synthetic? Synthetic leather? My son as a 2011 Lexus CT200h and the synthetic leather in that thing is great. If I could find a chair made out of that synthetic leather (or equivalent), I would buy for sure.

Stop crying. There is nothing dystopian about the United States. The only thing dystopian around here is your attitude.
Any country where working 50-60 hours a week is normal is dystopian by 2025 standards, where many countries have laws allowing workers much better work/life balance

If you are working 50-60 hours a week, barely getting by and you're over 30 then you have no real life skills. That's on you, there's nothing dystopian about it.

World Population Review - Average workweek hours by country [worldpopulationreview.com]
187 Countries listed
The United States is 128th
127countries work more hours weekly
67 total worldwide work less.

You don't know what you're talking about.
If they told you to stay home and they'd mail the paycheck to you for doing nothing, you would complain about the walk to the mailbox.

I know you can't help it, but this kind of BS is spread far and wide by the press of these countries that are 100% owned by the state. Iceland was telling everyone "Hey we eliminated the 5 day workweek! Everyone only works 4 days!" Yeah, maybe native Icelanders who work in government. I will worked the standard "37.5 hours" but had to work weekends too in order to get the work done. And daily overtime. Iceland's English-speaking press is straight propaganda.

Typically only the government workers of these countries, who don't do work anyway, will get these perks.

If you like those countries so much, move.
