The catch is that Laview gives you trialware that alerts your phone, but after 90 days when the trial is over, you have a dumb camera. Yea you can still view it, but you no longer get alerts..
I have 4 of the lightbulb style cameras that screw in to your porch light that are basically useless. Even the sd card recordings are problematic. If someone hits the light switch, or if power is lost, the sd card must be formatted again. Also you need to log in to it to see that it needs to be formatted before it can even record again. When you want to look at something you expected to be recorded, you are greeted with a prompt to format. Useless.. yes I have "128gb endurance" cards in all of them....
I would NOT buy again. It is a subscription magnet.

Strange. I have 2 of their light bulb cameras and don't have these issues. I've had them for months and while sometimes the app asks me to pay for a subscription I just skip it. Motion alerts work fine still. SD card recordings work fine too even after accidentally turning off power.

I have total 5 Laview lightbulb cameras, 2 of them were purchased in May 2023 and the rest 3 were purchased last year. I don't have any issue with them. I use SD card recording. I have only one Laview solar camera.

Same here, except only have one lightbulb cam on our front porch. Does more than my Wyze flood light camera that cost me 4x more.

To be clear, do you pay the subscription? When was the last time you added a camera? (the app will restart the free "demo" on all of your cameras when you add just one, but after 90 days, notifications are done.
As far as the sd recordings go, I started with cheap MC sd cards. After the frustration slipped in with these, I grabbed a pair of 128gb SanDisk endurance cards. I had the same random reformat issues. I then used a Best Buy $10 coupon and bought a Samsung endurance card with the same results. I then tried a pair of PNY endurance cards.. Again same results on not just one but all 4 of the cameras.
Its not just the recordings issue, during the trial bugs were constantly tripping the lights and recordings. Motion tracking follows a subject to all the way in one direction, but never re-centers the aim of the camera. I just disabled it completely.
If you are happy with it, good for you, but I am not and will be looking for another brand that is not subscription based. My Tapo cams still send me alerts and like the cheap MC128gb cards that we get a coupon for from MC once a year..

What app do you use? I use the LaView app. I even don't know the subscription thing. I only know you can use either SD card or cloud to store video, and you have to pay for cloud. I have never tried it. My two 2023 and one 2024 cameras are on continually since they were purchased. The other 2 lightbulb cameras run only when I am away. I added the two cameras to the app in July and there were removed from the app recently. I wish the app could hide a camera that is not used or is not on.
