the new boss variants can be accessed in the regular mode and give rewards specific to rhem.
The game also supports single player, online or offline. SP online is required for some of the boss variants and probably for the Depth of Night hard mode.
This deluxe edition will include the soundtrack amd upcoming paid DLC that will have probably at least 2 new characters and other cosmetic stuff. This deal is almost like getting the base game for $5 and the paid DLC for the regular expected $20
im expecting the DLC thats due out this year, to be announced at Tokyo game show this week

SP gives you a bit more freedom to just explore areas than MP does when you run as a group. There is still a time limit per day but there is no "getting left behind" pressure and you can clear out entire camps or sections if you want vs just running to key points like MP teammates want to do.
the difficulty usually feels like its scaled appropriately in terms of damage dealt and received. the game also gives you 1 revive per main night boss (2 per game, and 1 Night Lord). there are also items that let you aquire more revives so winning isn't always based on needing to be a professional level just to win in SP. that said it's still a souls game so there is def some skill required.
unlike all the other Fromsoft games though, the characters in this game are all unique and have unique movesets for certain weapons and different character movement. the characters aren't just blank slates like in other games and switching to a different character can actually feel completely different. to me it feels like the pulled approximate builds of characters from their other games like sekiro and bloodborne etc to make the unique characters in Nightreign.
The different character play styles can def keep SP from feeling stale. each character (8 total with 2 of em being unlocked by in game progression) also has their own story type mode to learn about them.
i will reiterate all bosses and modes can be beat SP, but certain modes like the Everdark boss variants (more difficult with different mechanics) and probably Depth of Night (more difficult) require an online server connection to play single player. i think the connection is just for Fromsofts own player metrics. the game has way more player stats available for the player to see after a match and i think they use the data to tune the game without needing to rely on Internet posts complaining XYZ is too hard/easy.

Also it seems this game is designed to be primarily played as a 3 player co-op and is not crossplay.
The base bosses and everdark variants are awesome.
Deep of night is a cheap difficulty ramp up with little reward. Only for those that truly enjoy the grind.
They can do a handful of things that would make this game less tedious, especially outside of the actual game. They are slowly making improvements but the whole rng relic system is rough. And falling into metas makes the game stale and can prove ineffectual at times.
I knew there'd never be another traditional Souls game after Elden Ring shoehorned open world bs thrown in. Now the procedural garbage, man, being a gamer in 2025 is awesome /s.
It's cool that there's those of you out there that can enjoy it, my friends love the game. I told them I'd get it to play with them but it's absolutely not worth $40 imo, not even $30, so still waiting until maybe Black Friday. I'm only considering it since it's a game to play with friends, if it didn't have the Souls gameplay I wouldn't bother. I just don't like these procedural games, would rather have a game with little to no randomization instead. Something like this is more like a add on or extra mode, not a whole new game.

The only thing it has in common with Elden Ring is that R1 does your regular attacks, R2 does your heavy attacks you can move, roll, jump, there is a super dash that drains stamina quickly though for L3. But your characters are preset which they now have super moves, sort of like a Destiny character with Dark Souls combat.
Now the reason why I couldn't really say yes or no is well, I only played the beta which is the full game it just had less randomization and no shifting sands. But the game is just a Fortnite game with Souls gameplay with an Elden Ring world. It's also a 45 minute run, you lose, you restart the same thing over again, you win, you restart the same thing over again. It's a procedural game like Fortnite.
Now, Elden Ring itself though is different, because Elden Ring is like a Souls game but ruined by open world, and people love it. It's a great game, just padded out by an open world environment. Honestly, it's probably easier getting into this game than it is getting into any other Souls games. Until the last area of the game it's not too difficult to be honest. But it is a long game. Depending on how much you like open world games you'll either like it at least, or love it. I don't care for open world, again, so much padding, but Elden Ring is one of the few games that does it better than the others as the areas that are around the world, the mini dungeons. When you actually get to those, those are amazing, I mean they're pretty small, but they're great content. The bigger areas in the game are also great, and one of the areas Volcano Manor, that area is design extremely well the whole area plays like a classic Souls game which is why it's so disappointing the whole game isn't that well crafted. And I mean the Volcano Manor and the entire area surrounding it, not just the Manor. That whole land mass.
I recently decided to replay it, took screenshots of my fully completed map and even then it still feels like a padded open world, but 30 hours and I'm 50% of the way through everything completed despite only level seven equipment and I can get level 14 weapons now. I did get bored and quit, but, my original game was I think 200 hours or more just having to find each individual area. Maybe you'll enjoy it better if you use online and you have a map opened up on a tablet or computer, but me I don't like using resources outside of personal friends or just solo, so that's what I did to find everything, atleast until I just started skipping everything at the end.
