This game has turned out to be way more long term fun than i anticipated. its had multiple patches and free content updates since it released in March. New boss variants and a new "hard" mode have been added in that allow much more play style customization per character in that mode.

the new boss variants can be accessed in the regular mode and give rewards specific to rhem.

The game also supports single player, online or offline. SP online is required for some of the boss variants and probably for the Depth of Night hard mode.

This deluxe edition will include the soundtrack amd upcoming paid DLC that will have probably at least 2 new characters and other cosmetic stuff. This deal is almost like getting the base game for $5 and the paid DLC for the regular expected $20

im expecting the DLC thats due out this year, to be announced at Tokyo game show this week

not bad for standard edition, this is a steal for deluxe which includes the upcoming DLC... hadn't picked it up yet because while I *love* my From games I never felt any "rush" to play this day 1... Seems like minimal lore, exploration, desire to be a part of that first wave of discovery.. Figured I would grab it on sale at some point or wait for a GOTY edition with DLC, this is close enough! Thanks OP, in for 1

I think single player depends on your mood for the day. Sometimes i really enjoy it, but i usually play MP just because its chaotic.

SP gives you a bit more freedom to just explore areas than MP does when you run as a group. There is still a time limit per day but there is no "getting left behind" pressure and you can clear out entire camps or sections if you want vs just running to key points like MP teammates want to do.

the difficulty usually feels like its scaled appropriately in terms of damage dealt and received. the game also gives you 1 revive per main night boss (2 per game, and 1 Night Lord). there are also items that let you aquire more revives so winning isn't always based on needing to be a professional level just to win in SP. that said it's still a souls game so there is def some skill required.

unlike all the other Fromsoft games though, the characters in this game are all unique and have unique movesets for certain weapons and different character movement. the characters aren't just blank slates like in other games and switching to a different character can actually feel completely different. to me it feels like the pulled approximate builds of characters from their other games like sekiro and bloodborne etc to make the unique characters in Nightreign.

The different character play styles can def keep SP from feeling stale. each character (8 total with 2 of em being unlocked by in game progression) also has their own story type mode to learn about them.

i will reiterate all bosses and modes can be beat SP, but certain modes like the Everdark boss variants (more difficult with different mechanics) and probably Depth of Night (more difficult) require an online server connection to play single player. i think the connection is just for Fromsofts own player metrics. the game has way more player stats available for the player to see after a match and i think they use the data to tune the game without needing to rely on Internet posts complaining XYZ is too hard/easy.

It would have to, given that no DLC has been released yet...

it seems this is a standalone and doesn't require you to buy the base game. However, do you miss out on anything by not buying the base game? Are they tied at all?

Also it seems this game is designed to be primarily played as a 3 player co-op and is not crossplay.

You need to take out Series S in the title. This is disc only.
