These are skate shoes not just walk shoes so they have good cushioning and reinforcement. I never buy their regular walk shoes anymore, I always get the Pro/skate versions of their shoes and they last way longer.

Last pair of Vans I had was years ago but I remember the sole delaminated in only a few months with little use. I like the style and price of this so I'm springing for a pair but if the shoe doesn't last for at least a couple years this will be the last Vans I ever buy!
