I thought this was interesting, so I decided to weigh some that I have. My Fresh Roast Italian Roast Artisan Blend actually had a little more, but I decided to check a couple others as well. I'm going to weigh all of them from now on.

All three were weighed sans capsule and foil which weigh 3.5g, these are coffee weight only:

Fresh Roasted Italian Roast 11.3g (9.8g 5 minutes later)
Cafe Bustelo 11.1g (9.6g 5 minutes later)
Happy Belly French Roast only 8.7g (7.2g 5 minutes later) Amazon claims the Happy Belly French Roast are 10.5g...not according to my espresso scale. It appears that Amazon is ripping people off with their Happy Belly pods. Either that, or it was a fluke and the rest are the correct weight. I'm not wasting more pods checking, but I suspect it is the former.

About the "5 minutes later", I re-checked the weights about 5 minutes after and each lost over a gram after being opened and exposed to air. I didn't expect that. I tried posting photos, but it isn't letting me.

I've only heard of of this happening while grinding; a warm grinder will produce a gram or so more than a cold grinder with cold beans. Since a k-cup will have very little moisture and relatively less coffee than a typical grinding situation, my best guess is there is a rapid off-gassing that occurs once that coffee has been exposed to air.

I happen to like Peete's because of its bold flavor. I see this dark roast and I'm wondering if it was as good. Thanks for the info!

I got the deal for $ 20.21, which makes each cup $0.21. Anything under 25 cents is a good deal, especially when I have a variety pack.

I usually use an 8-ounce cup on strong mode, so this will be great!
