tickets at my local theater are normally 5 dollars cept on i think weekends in which they are like 7.50 or 8
1. home projector and own food drink.
2. old theaters with cheap tickets.
3. updated theaters with expensive tickets and infrequent or gimic sales (such as this deal)
I wouldn't spend the time to drive to an older theater personally because I have a projector but everyone wants something different and more options improve the others.

granted I'm an odd edge case / the theater is ran by the city and is funded through liquor sales and its own operations more or less... but its nice to know my local theater will never go out of business... well unless everyone becomes sober there were hopes they would make the 2 new screens they added to have a bar but alas....
renovation upgraded all screens to UHD projectors and upgraded the audio ?? but the audio still sounds good so not sure what got upgraded for that....
