Decent price if you need a decent laptop. It's not significantly better than good deals on $300 laptops of three years ago (Ryzen 7530U laptops), but it's better than most in this price range.

Here's a great place to compare CPUs: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mob...list_67814

If you're just looking to have a laptop and use it, this probably will do everything you want. If you need to process tons of data, it won't be that bad at it.

I bought this to replace my wife 6+ year old $300 laptop (running Windows 10 - approaching end of life)

Yes, this is a couple years old (2-3). The construction is premium, not cheap / plastic. Mid-range CPU with 32GB RAM / Windows 11 Pro.

I leveraged ChatGPT for my research, comparing this computer to anything available today in the $300-$400 range. All aspects favored this laptop by a wide margin.

If you're looking for a $300 laptop for light browsing and email, this laptop is an easy choice (in my opinion).

NOTE: This is sold by Newegg. If you buy this directly from their site, it's slightly more expensive than the eBay deal... more importantl, with eBay you get a 1 year warranty (vs 90 days direct with Newegg)

the last time I bought a cheap laptop I didnt care about the screen because I would be using an external monitor anyway. it turned out the max output of the laptop was 1080p. is there anyway to know if this one can display more than that ?

Just a data point: Passmark [cpubenchmark.net]score of 14,433 for this cpu. Much better than most laptops in this range.
Things missing that I would prefer would be a backlit keyboard, webcam, a larger screen, a num pad (which is normally only on 15-inch or larger screens). But very nice for the price, and with the warranty through Allstate.

Every laptop deal ever posted will require a compromise, of sorts. This is a very nice deal if it fits one's needs.

Check the game requirements for min/recommended processors. I'm currently using a laptop with 1230u and the proc/gpu is able to handle some indie steam games and warcraft3 custom games.

This cpu seems to be ~ 23% better in multi-thread and ~4% better in single thread applications. Not sure on the graphics card end, however.

I bought one of these a week ago from Newegg for more money, and it was DOA.
I returned it for replacement, but they are OOS(?) and issued a refund.
I just re-bought it for less money.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What games?

FWIW, I have a Ryzen 7 8845HS which has a really really good iGPU...relatively speaking however still not a dedicated card. But it struggles with many games. For reference, it can play Far Cry 5 but at the absolute lowest settings to maintain a tolerable framerate. However in comparison the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U is likely more anemic, but this system does have double the ram I do.

P.S. This is a slightly lower CPU (5625U vs 5650U) and less ram, however these benchmarks might give you a good idea of what this could do.
