Not great. Was 2050 a couple weeks ago (refurbished but brand new). Higher end 48gb model was 2250 last week.

The one I got was new. Put Applecare+ plus on it.

The one you or the other user got, was a refurb. That's completely different from this being new or just open-box. It's good that you got a new-looking device.
A new deal for $2400 at Best Buy was posted just a week ago and was a popular deal. This is $200 cheaper than that.

Remember this is the M3 - the M4 was a significant improvement over this processor.

Best Buy has the exact laptop (16" M3 Max, 36 GB, 1 TB) during their current 48 hour flash sale, but it's currently sold out. They also have the 14" version, same specs I think, but for $100 more.

Had this for 1.5 years running three displays plus two more via display link, I wish I had the need to upgrade to M4 but I know it won't be significant enough, that's how good this config is

Imagine buying an M3 at near M4 prices with M5 literally months away.

All these people panic buying are going to regret when the M4 prices all tank when the M5's are released

Also expect great deals on M4 during BF/Holidays, I don't know why anyone would buy an M3 outside of getting a Max M processor but even then the difference in price is marginal at best why buy two generations older unless at a gigantic difference in price, makes no sense
