I have this from another deal a while back, and the rice it makes tastes funny so I've only used it a handful of times. No weird tastes if cooking the same rice on the stove top or in an instant pot.

you're supposed to wash the pot before you use it

FYI. Nonstick interior.**

šŸ˜„ I assume all other earthlings not in CA are immune to cancer or reproductive harm.
Most likely PFOA nonstick interior.

I use an InstantPot (stainless steel pot) pressure cooker to make my rice.
I have the 3qt version, and it does great with white jasmine rice. I just use 1/2 cup less water for a 1:1 ratio.
The InstantPot also makes other things like stews, porridge, and chili.
I recommend spending more to get an InstantPot that is clearly non-toxic.

**I will note that if you eat out at Asian or other restaurants that serve rice, they're most likely using a rice cooker with nonstick interior or aluminum. SO it is practically impossible to avoid PFOAs unless you strictly eat at home. Professional chefs use teflon pans in restaurants as well.

I venture to guess that they understand that.

Instead, I'd say that it's more likely that the non-stick coating is the culprit.

Not saying you have to do x or not but all the rice cookers my family used and my friends used for decades all used nonstick interior pots

I got tired of buying new rice cookers when the nonstick coating wore off, so the last rice cooker I bought is stainless steel. Elite Gourmet ERC006SS

Sellers put the prop 65 warning on just about everything to keep the legal racket that this prop spawned away.
