I used mine to cut down a bunch of small trees and get giants limbs into manageable sizes, this thing works surprisingly well!

I got one a while back for around $24, and it works great for what it is, with a surprising amount of torque. If you plan on using it a lot, make sure you have some bar oil and get some extra chains (on Amazon for around 5 for $10). I have been using it to nibble pieces off stumps in the middle of a trail, where they are partially rotten, but have hard cores filled with pine sap. I dig out a little dirt from around the stump, and cut through the hard bits with the saw until I get everything above ground level cut away. It is great not to have to obsess about getting your chain down in the dirt, since the chains are basically disposable (though the kit I got came with a file and some instructions, I find the prospect of sharpening chains to be a bit much, myself). ☺

I have little experience with chain saws, myself. But, my brother used to work at a repair shop that did a little of everything. He said sharpening chains were one of the most time consuming of all the things he did. And they had the equipment to do it.
