The Sync Module XR takes a micro sd card if opting out of the subscription. It is the Sync module core that does not do local storage and would need a subscription.

I hope they are more reliable than the Sync 2 modules. I had 2 fail after a few weeks of use. I also am very unimpressed with the cameras themselves. The motion detection is hit or miss. Either goes off every 5 minutes when as much as a leaf blows in front of them or a marching band can pass in front of them with no alerts. I replaced all of mine with Ring cameras and relegated my Blink cameras to low priority spots where I didn't need motion alerts and turned detection off. Not trying to thread crap, but as a very unhappy Blink owner, I think you should be aware of my experience. If you are a Blink owner and like them, I'm glad you are having a good experience. I am not the only Blink user with these issues though and feel I should report my experience.

Amazon and Blink announced today the new Blink 2K cameras. That is why Costco and Amazon are clearancing the Blink Outdoor 4 Camera models that are 1080p. I am happy with my Blink Outdoor 4 Camera using the sync module 2 with local storage. Today I bought the 2 Blink Outdoor 4 Cameras + mini 2 camera for $57 to add to my existing sync module 2.
