Definitely a gap between the first bulb and the wire (not sure why they did that?), but they are very bright and do a terrific job providing a bit of ambience for the patio.

Because most people dont have an outlet hanging in the soffit of their house or on the ceiling of their patios, so at bare minimum you need ~7-8ft of cord run just to get to a reasonable height to hang them. And even then, thats assuming at outlet is exactly where you want it. Easy to leave 5ft of cord spooled by the outlet...not easy to not make a light awkwardly hanging 4ft in the air disappear.

That said, bulbs 3ft apart is silly. 2ft would be the absolutely max you want, and most string lights are more like 18"

It's crazy that they get away with the base picture of the lights being so close together. Don't get suckered like I did and pay attention to the spacing (3 feet between bulbs).

Anybody know the lumens per bulb on this solar set? These are 2,700K color temp, warm by many standards, but the electric ones are warmer @ 2,200 (Feit, Hampton Bay…). The corded electric ones are 40 lumens, 11 watts. The spec for this product cite "5 watts" — is that total? Per bulb? And anyway nothing said about lumens.

I'm curious about the specs, too. I actually would appreciate a longer part of the cord so the solar panel can be mounted with more flexibility - says at least 7.5 ft to the panel but I suspect that's wrong and it's the 18ft (or even 21 ft as per a review). You can overcome 3 ft apart if you double up t he cord neatly if it isn't mounted as a line over an open area. There's so much unknown here. I have several of the plug-in kind which work great, but I have some places without an outlet that I'd like to put some lights, too. I guess it can be a buy-and-return if they're terrible...
