What's cool about this set is that there's no cropping - it's the 4:3 original unlike the blu-ray set. The real competition is thus the DVD set. That said...this isn't a show that cries out for high-def.

4k uhd Seinfeld seems weird. Feels like one of those shows that's best enjoyed off a VHS tape on a CRT TV

This feels like something that will be cheaper around black friday.

EDIT: Why isn't it in Atmos?!

Good to know I hate it when they ruin shows with cropping

Everything should be high definition. Aside from the definition, though, the more important thing is Dolby Vision. I don't care if I'm watching paint dry, I want the color to look its best.

FWIW Seinfeld was filmed on film cameras so it could benefit from a 4K scan.

So regarding the aspect ratio, it appears that the 16:9 actually crops in part of the scene that wasn't in the original show but was on the original film ( as in, they cropped it out to make it fit tube TVs)

So. If you are a fan of the show and like 16:9 I think the Blu-ray is a valid way to watch it, you lose a bit of the top and bottom but gain a little bit of the left and right. Note, it does drop a bit more of the bottom then you gain on the sides so that could make some scenes a bit off but hopefully whoever did the cropping used good judgment.

The 4K scan this is using preserves the original 4:3 television series so is a pretty pure to original experience, scanned in modern resolutions off of the master.

The DVDs are still around so it might be worth checking those out if you dont feel like spending this much.

Same. Friends had 50+ more episodes and has dipped to $120. No reason Seinfeld shouldn't.

I assume that's because the Friends remaster is regarded as being awful. They did some really weird stuff to the color palette and it upset a lot of folks. The Seinfeld remaster on the other hand is regarded as nearly perfect.

Probably can't see anything, but it isn't his fault... he was in the pool!
