even if you have an HDTV, the 4k and 4k max sticks are much faster and better performing than the HD stick. Woot has them for as little as $22 and has been running 10-15% coupons lately. spend the extra $4 and get a much better experience from these

They may be announcing new hardware on Sept 30. Most likely a new Cube, maybe more Sticks.

I'd get Walmart's Google TV streamer for about the same price over this.

I bought this a while back and it is slow as molasses.
Grass growing, paint drying, turtle racing slow.

I should have returned it but keep it on another hdmi to use it for android apps (esp smart tube and nova video player) and use a Roku stick (tons faster) for everything else.
I have a tv with built in Fire os and it is much faster than this stick.

A second vote for spending the extra few bucks for the 4k version.

All sold out on Woot unfortunately. I'm hoping Amazon has a deal for the upcoming prime days.

Even so, I'm on the fence. I bought a Fire TV Stick 4K about 3 years ago and just in the last few months, it's doing odd things ... no new devices or watch changes in my house but suddenly my Cox Cable data is spiking daily using double what's been usual over the past years. I found some info online where others have this issue also and it mentioned if the Fire Stick is unplugged from the wall when not in use I should see a difference in data use. I certainly do, but who wants to have to unplug the brick every time it's not in use, ugh!

Has anyone else experienced this or know if Amazon has addressed this problem?

I haven't noticed anything, but I also don't actively monitor it in off hours, definitely interesting if that's happening! Is Cox still doing data caps? that was the biggest reason I left them a couple years ago. the minor annoyance of extra data usage is much worse if you're being charged for it

Be aware, I connected this to Sony STR-AN1000 and youtube videos are decoded only through front two speakers, when I swapped this with 4k max stic then sound comes surround. Even at this price its not worth
