a 5070ti is $750 you might as well pay the extra $150 for the 5080.
I think my best bet is waiting for this Holiday season.

Wondering if/when prices on the current gen will bottom out, but it appears if you're on 40-series, or even 30-series, waiting until the Supers come out makes sense. Even if you're on older series, if your current use case allows you to wait - you may be able to snag an even better price.
The RTX 5080 Super's rumored $999 MSRP may be reality (crosses fingers) - as long as supply is ample to keep the scalpers at bay. Looking at recent price history, though - WhoTF bought 5090's at $6K?!? [Source: "Big GPU Price Drops - RTX 5090, 5080, & 5070", Graphically Challenged, YouTube]

It still costs almost 1k after tax so NOT GOOD...Remember they charge customers 3x or more....

Yeah this is definitely a sign, but they still probably won't hit until Jan or Feb. We will probably see a drought of inventory in December. I said f it and just bought a 5090 with this prove drop!

I don't think so. I'd recommend you buy now. Current working information is that the super series is going to completely replace many lines. So if that's the case we are possibly seeing a little bit of a inventory dump before swapping out to the new line. When we swapped over to the 50 series we had a nice dip in price around August/ September in price. Then inventory dried up in November/December and prices increased. So if your not wanting a super if jump on these prices now.

Valid point. But I would say that the 5080 is not the 1080ti of it's day. The 1080 ti was pretty much equal to a Titan X pascal in gaming.

Also not direct comparison, but a base modem macbook air cost $999 in 2017 - still costs $999.
