Anyone know how long this deal is good for? I don't get paid until Friday of next week.

This M3 chip vs a M4 chip. Is it worthwhile to spend $300 more for the newer M4 model?

It all depends for what you are going to use it for. M4 supports up to 3 displays, much better for ai/ml and 10-15% faster. If you just gonna surf and watch videos you don't need m4.

This has 24gb of ram vs the now standard 16gb, which is far more important than m3-m4 unless you plan on hooking up three external monitors.

This is a really good spec for the money. Hard drive upgrade and RAM bump. Definitely better to get this than the base spec M4.

I'm looking at the 2025 model M4 chip with 24GB of ram and 512GB one, and it's $300 more. Basically similar setup, almost the same except the chip version.
Looking to hook up to 2 external monitors max, mostly will just be 1 external.

Yes, the same configuration with M4 is $300 more at Costco right now ($1,399). Some may find that the way to go b/c you get a 2nd year of warranty with Costco instead of having to use your credit card extended warranty, plus you get a newer processor

If you are a power user but don't want a Pro, the M4 is the way to go. If you are just buying this to use it like 95% of people use a laptop for, saving $300 is the way to go

For iOS app development, is this enough or better get a m4?

This is a great deal. An equivalent M4 MacBook Air (24GB RAM, 512GB storage) is $1599. There definitely isn't $500 worth of difference between the base M3 and M4 chips. For 99% of use cases you won't even notice a difference.

I know this one is probably much better than my 2019 16 MBP 32GB/512BG w/ Intel chip. My use cases are only limited to streaming movie/shows, Copilot Chat, Zoom, and VMWare client to server farms. Do you think I should get this one? TIA..

I'd probably bite on this if I hadn't got one of those M2 13" for $699 deals from earlier this year.

The 13" is great, but a little small for my aging eyesight.

on the other hand, it's hard to pay $1100 for an Air when 14" Pros with 16GB and 512GB are going for $100 more.

Imagine not burning your lap or having to listen to fan noise while watching a video. Or have to plugin power at any point during the day. That's what you will notice right away.

You listed streaming shows and movies as your first use case. If that's the case, the Pro should be your only option as the screen alone is worth the cost of entry from sharpness to most importantly insane increases in brightness, double with SD content, quadruple the brightness for HDR content. If you have not you need to compare the screens of the Air and Pro. It may be too huge of a gap for you to pick the Air or they may seem close enough where it doesn't matter. Also you should know 32GB of intel RAM is not the same as 32GB of M chip RAM so i doubt 24GB of RAM would be a bottleneck unless you plan on keeping this laptop longer than 2-3 years. At any rate, I'm waiting until at least October/November/early December - traditionally that's the time for the best prices including Apple refurb which already has seen some price drops from 30-60 days ago
