I don't like the trend of protein snacks going down to 10g, that's barely useful. 20g should be the minimum for a productive treat.

Been buying so many Quest products lately with all their sales. I need to stop, but I've been wanting to try these for a while...

Yeah 10g is nothing. This is like for people who are terrible at dieting to have a treat.

I don't think the point of these is to help you hit a high protein target. I view this more as a healthier treat or dessert. If I want some sort of treat, might as well eat something like this vs the real thing. This at least has some protein. It's more of an added bonus than a dieting tool.

it's also 10g for the same 190 kcal, while the 20g variant already tastes good. makes no sense

Curious that the Slickdeals price history says these have been selling for $29. A different price tracker that I checked says they have been selling for $16.61 since July.

It should be however much of the specific protein (dependent on leucine content) is required to activate muscle protein synthesis. 10g is nowhere near enough.

I dont care that the protein is only 10 grams I get plenty in my day otherwise, the 9 grams of fiber is nice and only 1 gram of sugar. I love quest products and most protein dessert approximations with the assumption they wont taste as good but for the cals they are worth it.

All that said the 4.5 g sat fat (23%) for a tiny snack kills this for me. Ive found that by cutting out egg yolks and keeping sat fats around 11 or 12 grams a day I can avoid a statin for otherwise high LDL. I never did before but now I always check sat fats on stuff like this, some products have little or none and then products like this have 1/3 of my allowance for a few bites of junk food. Putting this out there for others watching saturated fat in otherwise 'healthier' snacks.

I'm happy to have smaller treats, particularly if they're not horribly overpriced compared to larger bars. Sometimes I just want a little something, and you can always eat more than one.

The bigger problem here for me is the protein to calorie ratio. I generally look for at most a 10-to-1 calorie to protein grams ratio. This is 19-to-1, so I'm going to pass. If you want to try a brownie flavored protein bar with higher protein ratio I recommend the Built Brownie Batter Puff bars. It's 140 calories for 17 grams of protein.

If you have a Sam's Club membership they're $17.94 for 13 bars right now for the Brownie Batter and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough variety pack, with the latter also being delicious (although the protein ratio isn't quite as good). In fact, pretty much TOO good for me. I have trouble not binging on them because they're kind of like crack.
