Anyone want to comment on this deal or provide a review? I think this deal is slick, yet it's not getting much attention.

I bought this pack in 2023 for $239.62 from REI. I can't recall if it was on sale or not. Great pack. I've been very happy with it, having done several multi-day backpacking trips with it.

Wow, I just pulled out my 1998-era North Face 65 pack and found the receipt: $219 plus tax, or about $400 today. It's falling apart from age more than usage. This feels pretty slick to me.

1-year returns for members, too.

Been using a Salvo 28 heavily for many years, feels very good quality, no issues at all. No experience with the larger ones.
IME it's best to visit a store and try them on. We are all slightly differently built and what works for one may be uncomfortable for another.
I picked the Salvo after trying a similar sized Osprey which felt very wrong on my back.

From personal experience backpack brands are similar to shoe brands with some sizes running large or small.

I've observed Gregory Packs are more forgiving toward long torso people vs a brand like Osprey or Deuter which seem to favor short torso people. Height doesn't matter, there are short people with long torsos and tall people with short torsos.

you want to measure from the top of the hips (iliac crest) to the pointy C7 and then looking at the sizing guides they have online.

if trying on in store make SURE the pack has at least 20 pounds of properly distributed weight when testing it. How you pack it can determine how it feels. Even using packing cubes vs the stuff and smush method can change how it feels

It's better to test it at home or the store before you're 10 miles in on the trail

I have an older version of this pack. This is not for weigh weenies (about 5 lbs), but for those that carry heavier loads as it carries heavier weight very well.

For those, this is a solid pack. Full retail is about $350.

I have this pack, and the 80. This pack is extremely comfortable. It's the best pack I've ever used. I stay somewhat dry during the summer, hiking at 5k ft, during the day. There might be better out there for breathability but I'm not aware of another. I just want to get to my destination without discomfort and this fits the bill. It's a Cadillac 👍

I've had this pack for a couple of years. It's the first and only pack of this size that I've owned. I really like it. I've made the noob mistake of carrying too much more than once. (I'm hard headed). It handles the weight really well. I've weighed this pack loaded at 50 pounds. I've also packed it at 32 pounds. The pack has held up well for me. It's a little dirty but haven't had anything break on it.
